Paul Humbert

For Bernards Township Committee

Paul Humbert

RMC Endorsed Candidate

Paul Humbert is committed to serving the residents of Bernards Township with integrity, common sense, and a focus on the issues that matter most to our community.

  • Responsible growth that preserves the character of our town
  • Smart financial management to protect taxpayers
  • Public safety and support for our first responders
  • Thoughtful planning for the future of Bernards Township
More about Paul

A dedicated community member, Paul believes local government works best when it is transparent, responsive, and focused on long-term planning rather than short-term decisions. He is running for Township Committee to ensure Bernards continues to be a place where families, seniors, and businesses can thrive.

Paul describes himself as a fiscal conservative with a live-and-let-live approach to social issues: a moderate for a moderate town. Throughout the campaign he has focused on bringing people together around shared goals, keeping the quality of life residents expect while making sure the township is prepared for the challenges ahead. He believes leadership means showing up, listening, and making decisions that reflect the best interests of the entire community.

Also on Paul's list

  • Local control and pushing back on mandates from Trenton
  • Opposing out-of-scale redevelopment, including the Route 202 townhouse proposal

“Bernards Township deserves thoughtful leadership, responsible planning, and decisions that put our residents first.”

Kirsten Light

For Bernards Township Committee

Kirsten Light

Independent Republican Candidate

A lifelong New Jerseyan and Bernards Township resident since 2010, Kirsten Light is a CPA and former Board of Education member who wants to bring the same results-driven approach to the Township Committee.

  • Control taxes while maintaining community services
  • Bring professional financial oversight to the township budget
  • Keep our schools and neighborhoods safe
  • Deliver measurable results, not promises
More about Kirsten

Kirsten lives in Basking Ridge with her husband Frank, her daughter Caeli, a 2022 Ridge High School graduate, and her son Jaxon, who attends Liberty Corner Elementary. When she saw the quality of the schools beginning to decline while taxes soared, she ran for the Board of Education and served the community for three years.

As Finance Committee Chair and a member of the Facilities and Operations Committee, she held school property-tax increases to 0.73% and then 0%, saving the community more than $5 million without cutting services or staff. Teachers received raises, and she personally championed adding four new police officers to serve at each of the elementary schools. She now wants to bring innovative solutions that show results like these to the Township Committee.
